Double the impact

In the Philippines, trust has been the key factor in transforming 800 small farmers into true entrepreneurs.

Now, your trust can help us continue to boost their businesses and improve lives.

Despite owning a product in high demand on the global market, seaweed farmers in the Philippines have been living a life of hardship and precariousness. Most of the profits were controlled by intermediaries.

Supported by the Julius Baer Foundation, CODESPA has shown that it is possible to directly connect farmers and private companies to distribute profits more equally.

In 2024 the Hinatuan Seaweed Producers Association (HSWPA) we support reached another major milestone: from a simple community organisation, they have now established a legally constituted cooperative: the Hinatuan Seaweed and Fisherman Company (HISFA-CO).

This change opens up new opportunities, enabling seaweed farmers to access formal credit and establish themselves as a key driver of local development. Through the project, not only have they improved their living conditions, but they have also changed their mindset: once producers they are now entrepreneurs who are able to strengthen the local economy and secure a more stable future for the communities who depend on seaweed farming.

There are still many farmers in the region who are ready to embrace this journey. With your donation, we can support this transformation, reach more families in need and reduce wealth inequality in the Philippines.

* HOW TO DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT

CODESPA’s mission is to elevate 10 million people from poverty to prosperity, and 5.9 million have already walked this path with us. Through the Julius Baer Foundation, your donation counts double: Bank Julius Baer will match every donation made to the project ‘Reducing inequality in the seaweed value chain’ (up to CHF 1 Million). For example, if you donate $20, Bank Julius Baer will donate another $20, allowing us to maximise the impact of each contribution.

To make this possible, please follow these steps:

  • When you make your donation, complete the “How did you meet us” field.
  • Select the “Other” option and write “JBF“. This information is essential so that we can identify your donation as part of the agreement with the Julius Baer Foundation and secure the matching donation.

All donors or new members residing in Spain are eligible to request a donation certificate. To receive this certificate, you must select this option when completing the donation form. This document will allow you to deduct part of the amount donated on your next tax return, in accordance with current tax regulations. The certificate will be issued and mailed during the first quarter of 2025, after the close of the tax year. For more information on the applicable tax benefits, we invite you to consult the details on the following link.

If you reside outside Spain and wish to make a donation or become a CODESPA member, you may do so only by credit card or PayPal. Unfortunately, we do not offer the option of making donations by bank transfer due to operational restrictions with our financial institution.
